Developed by clinical psychologist Alan Kazdin, Parent Management Training (PMT) is an evidenced based program that teaches parents how to use positive reinforcement to shape positive behaviors of children and adolescents.
PMT also teaches parents how to apply mild discipline techniques to reduce and or eliminate their child’s undesired behaviors. PMT has been used with children with oppositional and aggressive behaviors, but can also provide solid parent training when dealing with children and adolescents with mild to moderate undesired behaviors. PMT can also be learned and used in a preventative manner to keep any undesired behaviors from growing into problematic behaviors. At Childthrive, we offer PMT to alter parent-child dynamics in the home setting to increase positive child / adolescent behaviors. PMT can be used with children ages 7 to 14 years old. PMT sessions can be done within a private family therapy setting or in a group training session. Group session trainings are offered at a lower cost at different times throughout the year. Childthrive will post group training opportunities as they are offered on our website. Please click here https://childthrive.net/group-pmt-training/ to learn more about our current group training or call 219.677.8693 to be placed on a list to be contacted about the next group training opportunity. Additionally, private family sessions can be scheduled with a Childthrive therapist.
